The Trust is legally responsible as custodian of the Synod’s finance and property resources and holds the ultimate responsibility for the Synod activity. It is the employer of Synod office and field staff and has oversight of governance within Synod.  There are between five and  twelve trustees who meet four times a year, see our events calendar for dates.  We are keen to expand the skills and experience of the trustees, anyone who is interested please do contact the Chair of Trust for an informal discussion.

The North Western Synod geographically covers Cumbria as far as Bewcastle in the North down to Whaley Bridge in the South, from Blackpool on the Lancashire coast to Tintwistle in East Cheshire.

There are currently 100 churches, 79 of them have URC buildings and 26 manses. There  are various other recreation grounds, fields and graveyards that Synod have responsibility for.

The Property Officer is available to support churches to maintain the church buildings and ensure that any building work undertaken is carried out to an agreed standard. The Property Officer works closely with ministers on their manses meeting the legal certification required.
