Thank you to Revd Clare Downing from the United Church Workington

On Sunday 24th May we were very pleased to have Clare with us on what will have been one of her last preaching appointments before her retirement.

She told us she has tried to travel to every Church in the Synod during her three years as Moderator and we are grateful that she made the journey and overnight stay to meet our congregation.

Clare's quiet, thoughtful sermon will be long remembered, not least because she used a children's picture book about a mouse wanting to have a louder voice!   ‘Take what you will from the story’ Clare said and I am still thinking of it now as I write.

After the service Clare was able to stay for a cuppa and a chat with everyone in the congregation before she returned to her final weeks of work.

We would like to thank her for her work as Synod Moderator and wish her well in her retirement.
