- All URC CRCWs and Ministers of Word and Sacrament are encouraged to take up to 2 weeks study leave a year.
- Grants of up to £700 a year are available to meet costs.
- Many different forms of study and learning are eligible for a full or partial grant.
- Grants are administered by the Synod Training Officer to whom completed EM application forms should be returned, preferably 3 months before the event in question.
- Once the training/study has taken place a EM report form must be returned to the Synod and to the URC Secretary for EM.

Sabbaticals
- CRCWs and Ministers of Word and Sacrament are eligible for a sabbatical of up to 3 months duration after every 10 years of service.
- The Synod Training officer, the URC Secretary for EM and the Cheshunt Foundation at Westminster College are all sources of information about a range of sabbatical opportunities and sources of funding.
- The URC offers grants of up to £1,200 towards the cost of a sabbatical.
- Planning for sabbaticals should start as far in advance as possible. The approval of both District and local pastorate must be sought and plans discussed in some detail with the Synod Training Officer.

Payment Authorisation Form
Subsequent to authorisation of EM or Sabbatical funding a separate form must be sent to the Ministerial Training Officer for each payment that is to be made.
