The United Reformed Church in Bramhall
Hello! And welcome to this web page of the United Reformed Church in Bramhall. The church here in Bramhall was founded in 1902. The original buildings were demolished and the premises we are using now were opened in phases between 1992 and 1998. In our congregation you will find people of all ages and from many places. Although we come from various backgrounds, we are bound together by a common allegiance to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. We think of ourselves as a family, ready to offer love, care and support to young and old alike. And the door is kept open so that the neighbours know they are welcome to come in!
A wide range of activities gives everyone a chance to make friends and become involved in what is happening. We are always looking for new and effective ways of helping the community to find hope, encouragement and individual freedom. To this end we work with all the other churches in Bramhall to provide a living and trustworthy witness to the truth. At the same time, through the channels of Christian Aid and other agencies we participate in Christian mission and caring throughout the world. If you would like to know more about the church, don't hesitate to contact us. We now have our own website at www.urcbramhall.co.uk, and contact can also be made by telephoning the Church Office on 0161-439-4807.
Worship
Weekly Communion Service: At 8.00am on a Sunday morning Bramhall is quiet. We come to the church quietly to remember Jesus Christ, the Saviour who died for us. As we think about Him together we find that we are able to locate the one reliable source of inspiration and hope for the week ahead.
All Age Worship: At 9.30am people of all ages share in a fast moving service. It is certainly not quiet! The music and the forms of worship we use reflect the idiom of the day and help children to see that Jesus can be an exciting friend and a trustworthy guide throughout our lives. But this is something we all need to know. So from the youngest to the oldest, at 9.30am everyone is welcome and important.
Reflective Worship: At 10.30am the later of our service takes a more familiar and traditional form which includes a sermon to help us engage with the Bible in the exploration of our faith. Our day-to-day lives prompt many questions; at 10.30am we find some time to look for the answers.
Once a month on a Sunday evening we share in a Service of 'Contemporary Worship'. This is normally arranged by our Music Group and provides us all with an opportunity to explore the many different ways in which we may rejoice in Jesus Christ our Lord and offer real appropriate worship to our God.
Church Organisations
These include: Choir, Music Group, Meeting Point (Ladies Group), and regular 'House Groups', which explore issues related to faith. Also, our Brownies meet weekly. Other organisations, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Special Needs Activity Group and MS Group, use the church buildings.
