Macclesfield URC, formerly a Congregational church, meets in a 120 year old Grade Two listed building which has recently been re-roofed and the interior re-decorated. Halls are in a separate building behind the church and are used both by the church organisations and by many groups in the community.
The church has an induction loop for users of hearing aids, and extra-large print hymn sheets are available.
The Minister, the Rev. Tony Wilkinson came to Macclesfield from Bury in 1994, and retired in February 2006.
Members are drawn from all over Macclesfield and the surrounding area. For young folks, Junior Church and FURY are available every Sunday. Other organisations include Women’s Guild, Women’s Friendship Circle, choir, Guides, Beavers, Cubs and Sea Scouts.
Sunday services at 10.45 a.m. are generally traditional with members and young people often taking part. Communion is on the first Sunday of every month. Visitors are always welcome to the church or to any of the organisations.
